What makes this trip sustainable?
With large numbers of tourists in spring and summer, El Calafate has become an overcrowded destination throughout the last years. Choosing different ways of traveling, outside the traditional tourist circuit, helps balancing the destination carrying capacity. Besides, the ecocamp is sustainably administered in order to keep the environmental impact as low as possible: domes as well as lavatories were designed to leave no traces. Lastly, being in contact with nature by making eco-touristic activities helps raising awareness and being more active in the reduction of our ecological footprint.

DESCRIPTION

Sleeping in a sustainable camp, surrounded by nature, under the stars, is a unique and ecological experience. The trip also includes two nights in El Calafate and the visit to the Perito Moreno glacier.

Sleep under the stars in the ecocamp in El Calafate

It is a unique experience in Argentina. This ecocamp in El Calafate is a sustainable camp, designed to enjoy the landscape while preserving the environment. The camp consists of eight domes. Each dome has two beds and one of the domes offers the possibility of adding an extra bed. In addition, the camp has a dining dome and a bathroom dome (shared).

Travel as the pioneers of Patagonia

 

Discover the Perito Moreno glacier as pioneer travelers of Patagonia did. Sleeping surrounded by nature and without greater luxuries than a rich meal, candlelight and a comfortable bed. When the pioneers arrived in Patagonia they found an enormous practically uninhabited land. It was the immensity of landscape and them. The ecocamp in El Calafate recreates this experience, with the 21st century comforts.

Meet travellers from around the world

The ecocamp is a type of accommodation that it is found in many parts of the world. It is also an ecological and sustainable experience. The ecocamp in El Calafate is near Perito Moreno’s Glacier, so it constantly receives  travellers from all over the world. Sharing conversations and travel experiences with people from different corners of the planet enriches the trip greatly.

Discover the Perito Moreno Glacier

The visit to the Perito Moreno glacier is included on the second day. It is leave from El Calafate and take the old route of the estancias (old way to reach the glacier). The tour includes the visit to the estancia Nibepo Aike. From here, it is embarked and navigated the lake to see the south face of the Perito Moreno glacier. The tour also includes a walk through a native forest of lengas. At 4 pm the tour gets to the famous footbridges, to enjoy the glacier more peacefully.

Two nights in El Calafate

The first and last night of the trip are in El Calafate. This allows you to know the city, walk around Bahía Redonda and Laguna Nimez or visit the ice museum Glaciarium.

STAY AND SERVICES

  • Day 1: Arrival to El Calafate

    Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel in El Calafate.

  • Day 2: Visit to the Perito Moreno Glacier

    Pick up at the hotel El Calafate. Visit to the Perito Moreno Glacier, previous stop at Estancia Nibepo Aike. Then lunch, navigation and trekking. At 4 p.m. walk arrival to the footbridges. 6.30 pm transfer to the ecocamp.

  • Day 3: Ecocamp

    Day at the ecocamp. You can do a trekking around the area or visit another estancia.

  • Day 4: El Calafate

    Transfer back to El Calafate. Overnight at a hotel in El Calafate.

  • Day 5: Departure from El Calafate

    Transfer out to El Calafate’s airport.

INCLUDED

  • Transfer to and fro from El Calafate airport to your accomodation.
  • Two night stay based on double occupancy in standard room at a 3* category hotel in El Calafate, breakfast included.
  • Full-day excursion to the Perito Moreno Glacier with bilingual spanish/english guide. Includes the visit to Estancia Nibepo Aike, Patagonian lunch and navigation in front of the glacier.
  • Transfer to and fro from El Calafate to the ecocamp.
  • Two nights stay based on double occupancy in the ecocamp in El Calafate with full board (fixed menu), drinks and guided tours.

NOT INCLUDED

  • Two way plane tickets to El Calafate. For inquiries about airline fares, contact us.
  • Entrance to Los Glaciares’ national park.
  • Tips, meals outside the fixed menu, alcoholic drinks, or any other serviced not mentioned in the program.
