DESCRIPTION

Ammanik suggests a walking tour of Buenos Aires historic city centre, as a different way of discovering the city. You will be led through the heart of Buenos Aires’ most important buildings, institutions and sites, and illustrated about the Nation birth and Argentina’s identity.

Our guide will meet us at the corner of Hipólito Yrigoyen and Balcarce, and our tour will begin in Plaza de Mayo, a place where we will appreciate important monuments, witnesses of several demonstrations and historical milestones, essential to our country’s history.

The historic city centre provides a unique testimony of the architectural revolution carried out at the turn of the 19th century. The Paris-inspired Avenida the Mayo, which also resembles Madrid’s Gran Vía, is a perfect example of this revolution. We will walk Avenida de Mayo from its beginnig to its end, admire its beautiful buildings and visit the first Latin American subway, which runs under it.

There will also be time to have a cup of coffee in one of Buenos Aires’ most typical cafes, once the meeting point of intellectuals and important characters of the past century.

Our tour will end in one of the city’s most intriguing buildings: the Palacio Barolo. Built upon Dante’s Divine Comedy, this wonderful building offers fantastic views of the city, and is ideal to end up our tour right at the heart of Buenos Aires.
